Duo Multi-Factor Authentication

Background

UW Madison uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to secure user logins to campus resources.  MFA is a login security measure in addition to regular username/password authentication.  It aims to dramatically reduce the likelihood of unauthorized access to a user’s account by requiring a user to confirm a login with a personal device, such as a phone, tablet, or token.  While there are many MFA systems on the market, UW-Madison has chosen Duo Mobile as their MFA provider.
