Background Information
WisPIC offers several WiFi networks. Please see the available networks listed below.
WisPIC implemented UW-Madison’s campus-provided WiFi networks (UWNet and Eduroam) in April 2022. WisPIC formerly provided in-house WiFi networks (wispic, wispic-secure, and healthemotions) until the campus networks were implemented. Users who formerly used one of the in-house networks will need to switch to one of the networks listed below.
Please note that a VPN connection is required on the networks listed below in order to gain access to internal WisPIC resources (such as printers and file shares).
Available Networks

- Where is this network active?
- WisPIC first floor (clinic and research areas) and room 2401 mezzanine (i.e. 2nd floor)
- Who can use this network?
- Anyone
- Is a login required?
- Not quite, but a minimum of an email address is required for Guest access
- UW-Madison affiliates can login with their UW NetIDs (please see Affiliates section on this page for details)
- Logging in with a NetID registers the user’s device for 6 months until requiring re-registration
- Users can view/manage their registered devices here: https://access.services.wisc.edu/Device
- Guests (e.g. those without UW-Madison NetIDs) need to provide an email address to use this network (please see Guest section on this page for details)
- Guest devices are registered for 2 weeks until requiring re-registration
- Guests who work at WisPIC and need long-term UWNet access can Request a UW NetID
- Does this network have direct access to internal resources at WisPIC (e.g. printers and file shares)?
- No, this network does not provide direct access to internal WisPIC resources
- To access internal WisPIC resources from this network, users must connect to our VPN using the Global Protect client
- Does this network support UW-Madison Softphones?
- Yes
