Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub

Background

In order for the Psychiatry IT team to manage the hundreds of devices deployed to clinicians, administrators, and researchers, we utilize a system called Workspace ONE (WS1). WS1 a a type of Modern Device Management (MDM) system that allows large-scale configuration and on-going maintenance of operating systems updates and 3rd party software, e.g., 1Password. The MDM takes the form of a program on your computer, both Mac and Windows, called (Workspace ONE) Intelligent Hub, sometimes referred to as the “Hub” (app). The Hub app showcases software titles that can be installed and removed without administrator privileges.

The software catalog contains titles that have already been evaluated by SMPH Cybersecurity, which you can read more about here. You catalog may vary from what is depicted in the instructions below.

Click on your computer’s operating system below to find out how to launch the Intelligent Hub app.

Open Intelligent Hub

  1. Search for the Intelligent Hub by clicking Magnifying Icon in the Task Bar, and then typing hub at the top, as demonstrated:
  2. After it launches, click either Apps on the left side or the button. Both options are shown below:
  3. The search feature works with incomplete searches for quick previews, as demonstrated next:
  4. Next to each icon, you’ll see either an arrow pointing downwards or a trash can. The downward-pointing arrow indicates that you can install it. The trash can icon, on the other hand, means you can uninstall it. Uninstalling and reinstalling an app can be helpful with troubleshooting. Both options are shown below:

Installation typically takes 2-5 minutes, depending on the size of the app.

  1. In the top-right corner, click the honeycomb-like icon, then select Launch Intelligent Hub, as shown in the screenshot below:
  2. In the new window, next to “Categories,” click the upside-down carrot to select All Apps, demonstrated next:
  3. Here, you can browse the catalog or search for a specific app. Below, an example is shown by typing in Windows. In addition, you’ll notice each app buttons that say “Install” or “Reinstall.”
